Williamson Act- Open Space/Wildlife Preserves

The Williamson Act is known for Agricultural Preserves, but it also provides for open space and species preservation. Land over 40 acres within a scenic corridor or within a unique habitat may qualify as a wildlife preserve. This is a ten year agreement with the County and subsidized by the State of California.

A preserve is appraised at its open space value rather than market value.  The Williamson Act will provide you a tax benefit while helping you to preserve your land in its natural state and provide essential habitat for wildlife.
